Project Type:  Residential Size:  400 sqft Year:  Completed 2022 Russel ADU is the readaptation of a 400 square foot existing garage into a versatile Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) designed primarily as an entertainment room for the family, with the flexibility to function as a guest house. Within the existing compact footprint, the design incorporates multifunctional furniture that can be easily reconfigured, resulting in a design that can adapt to various living scenarios such as movie nights and guest mode. This adaptable design transformed the existing garage into an open studio layout that includes a full-size kitchen with an island, a complete bathroom with laundry, an entertainment center, or a bedroom. To enhance the connection between the ADU and the main house, an outdoor patio was added to serve as an extension between the two spaces. The adaptable design ensures that the ADU will be able to accommodate many family gatherings for years to come.
